Capital Campaign Work

Site Plan

For the last few weeks, my husband has been busy writing letters and preparing them for mail-outs, beginning a capital campaign. The letters and accompanying fliers explain the process of the work that has been started on this multi-million dollar restoration project in Mineral Wells.

He is working very closely with the Executive Director, Dr. Jessie Teddlie, in making the community and the MWHS alumni aware of all that is planned and how much their assistance is needed.

“In 1984, the old High School was threatened with demolition. Originally known as the Fannin School, this wonderful structure that was part of so many of our lives for decades was saved due to the tremendous efforts of a group of concerned citizens and former Mineral Wells High School students.

Today the 50 Year Club exists to promote and preserve our many high school reunions and restore the old high school building and the surrounding facilities like the amphitheater as a National Historic District.

Plans are being made for historical restoration to the original structures of the three-story old Mineral Wells High School and amphitheater facility, the Rock School House, and the Home Economics Building and for refurbishing the interiors for use as a Community Historical Complex.”

“The original auditorium will be renovated into a beautiful venue for arts, music and other events. Outstanding stage lighting and sound facilities are planned.

A museum of local Mineral Wells High School educational history will be housed on the third floor with a museum of Palo Pinto County and Texas history on the second.

The multi-purpose center will be a resource for children, schools, churches, senior citizens and visitors.”

  1. Mineral Wells High School 50 Year Club doing the "blog" -- wow! I told my husband about it and he thought it was an "old dance" he had forgotten! When I showed it to him, he said, "Yea, the 50 Year Club is doing the blog!"

His daughter is happy that we are making this happen so she can put all of his sports and coaching treasures in the Museum rather than in her home, but can still visit them!! Thanks for this from all of us!

Now I can hardly wait to see the hear what the real "bosses" of the Club have to say...Shotgun Vaughan and Elizabeth, R. J. Walton, June Roden, etc.
