Reminder of Plans for Home Economics Building at Mountaineer Heritage Park

  Amphitheater 2013

Amphitheater 1940
"Saving the Past and Improving the Future" is the byline for Mountaineer Heritage Park, an area of Historical significance in the educational community of Mineral Wells, Texas. Two historic treasures that are found on the grounds were built by the WPA during the Great Depression: a stone amphitheater and one of the first home economics buildings built in Texas.

The Amphitheater Facility has already been restored by the Club and is being used and enjoyed by the community. The Lillian Peek Home Economics Building, originally finished in 1935, is in the process of being renovated and will be used as offices for the MWHS 50 Year Club and large meeting rooms for rent by community organizations and individuals for meetings, reunions, weddings, receptions, and the like to generate revenue for the Club.

Note:  This is a renovation to period project, not a restoration to former classroom functions.
